Not only have we been in business 20 years but we have been open EVERY SINGLE DAY! That's a total of 7305 consecutive days. That's a lot of days and we hope you have had a chance to visit and experience what we all love about H.B. Provisions.

What's New in Our Deli? No more waiting.....
We have spent the last year being swamped in the deli. The staff leave work worn out each day after struggling to keep up with all the orders. After much thought and investigation we decided to move to a self service model instead of making each sandwich to order. Now you will be able to come in and help yourself to one (or more) of your favorite breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

Here's the story ...
It's summer here in Maine and as you can imagine we are very busy at H.B. Provisions. You have probably heard that we are short staffed, like everyone, and we love the staff we do have. They have stood by us and are working hard everyday to make H.B. Provisions a friendly, inviting place for all your provisions.
We are so sad when folks come in after the deli has closed at 2pm because they are no able to get one of our delicious sandwiches. The good news is that we make as many sandwiches as we can each day, for our grab and go, so there is a sandwich available for you. During very busy times of day and the busiest days we get so many orders (walk in, called in or ordered on the internet) that we get behind and the wait has been as much as 30 minutes. We appreciate your patience and do everything we can to get your food out as quickly as possible. With that being said it also takes more time to make a sandwich that deviates from the menu item. So if you can keep your special requests to a minimum and order the sandwiches as they are written on the menu everything goes a lot quicker.
You may have noticed we have removed a few items from the menu (pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, HB sausage) that were especially time consuming or took up lots of space on our grill. It has made it much easier for us working the deli and allows us to keep things moving.
The staff work tirelessly and on a busy day can make up to 450 sandwiches. That's a lot of food to prep and a lots of sandwiches/meals to make as well. So please know that we are working as hard and fast as we can.
Numbers tell the story.....We used to have 5 cashiers working each shift during the busy summer days and nights and now we are thrilled if we have 3 cashiers for each shift. In the deli we would have 5 people working to make sandwiches/meals and now we occasionally have 2 and on our best days we have 4. We are not complaining just wanting you to understand how it is for us.
